HACKETTSTOWN (June 17, 2009) Over 115 golfers teed off at the scenic Panther Valley Golf & Country Club on June 8th for the 23rd Annual HRMC Foundation Golf Classic. The event was sponsored by Hackettstown Emergency Associates, and when the events of the day concluded, nearly $50,000 had been raised for the Joan Knechel Cancer Center at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. In the past decade, over $825,000 has been raised through this time-honored, popular outing. New this year was the introduction of a special trophy for the first place physician foursome. The honor of receiving this inaugural award was earned by the first place physician foursome of Dr. William Olivieri, Dr. Clay Hinrichs, Dr. John Werring and John Werring, Sr., representing Hackettstown Emergency Associates. "The HRMC Foundation's Golf Classic offers a win-win situation," said Golf Classic Chairman Michael Selvaggi, who was assisted by a committee of ten volunteers and hospital staffers in the planning process. "Golfers feel like winners with the opportunity to play at such a fine course with wonderful amenities, and the patients of HRMC are big winners as a result of the funds raised to help provide the latest state-of-the-art technology and expanded services at HRMC." For the second year in a row, Duke's Landscape Management took first place overall with a score of 59, earning them the coveted Jesse Lawrence Memorial Championship Trophy. The members of that foursome were Eric Cross, Tim Watts, John Armas and Jim Gruber. The overall second and third place teams, respectively, were: Great Meadows Design Group, LLC with the foursome of Dan Grover, Matt Murello, Jeff Frankel and Marc Hershel; and Associates in Oral and Maxillofacial and Reconstructive Surgery, represented by the foursome of Anthony Ciurczak, Dr. Melvin Hebel, Dr. Kenneth Murphy, and Dr. Edwin Sonnenberg. Plans are already in place for the 23rd Annual HRMC Foundation Golf Classic that is slated for June 14, 2010. For more information about the HRMC Foundation and events, please call (908) 850-6876.
